Mercury Rising (1998) Art Jeffries (Bruce Willis) plays a down and out FBI agent who has had a few recent troubles with his bosses, and is showing signs of becoming disillusioned with his life. He is called out to investigate a double murder, and report of a missing 9 year old boy. Simon Lynch is Autistic and has cracked a top secret NSA code, by phoning a number in the back of a puzzle book. This is what lead to his parents being murdered by operatives who are part of the NSA, in order to protect their top secret code called MERCURY. Art Jeffries gains the trust of the child and takes him to hospital, while trying to solve the case of his murdered parents, unravels a government plot to kill this 9 year old who Art starts to recognise as incredibly gifted.
