Only referred to as Kowalski (Barry Newman), our hero delivers cars for a living. His next job will see him heading to Frisco from Colorado delivering a 1970 Dodge Challenger. For extra money, a bet is made to complete the job in 15 hours or less. Not too soon in his trip, a cop asks him to pullover, but Kowalski speeds away. Aided by a blind DJ, Super Soul (Cleavon Little), with a police radio, many chase scenes ensue as more police show up. A long the way, Kowalski meets an eccentric cast of characters before riding off to the final end.
