Folks in the Wild West fashioned a veritable Robin Hood out of the antics of legendary Jesse James (Brad Pitt). By the time he was 34, he’d been robbing stagecoaches and banks for over 15 years. Newspapers and dime-store novels made him famous in his own time and helped put a bounty on his head of $10,000. He became recognized far and wide, especially gaining notoriety in the eyes of Robert Ford (Casey Affleck). Ford tried to ride into James' gang on the coattails of his older brother Charley (Sam Rockwell), already a standing member of the group. He was heckled and abused by the members of the group, leading him to resent James' gang while still desperately wanting to be part of it. In his distress, Ford helps bring down James' gang, and then aims to bring down James himself.
