The movie begins with an attack on a foreign compound in Riyadh, where over a hundred people are killed along with Francis Manner (Kyle Chandler), the FBI's head Saudi Arabia Agent. Special agent Fleury (Jamie Foxx) takes the law into his own hands and leads a team of agents to investigate the attack. With team mates Adam Leavitt (Jason Bateman), Janet Mayes (Jennifer Garner), and Grant Sykes (Chris Cooper) with him, he hopes to discover who is responsible. They eventually gain the trust of a Saudi Police officer Al Ghazi (Ashraf Barhom) who they work with to find the enemy. Leavitt is abducted, and though they successfully rescue her, Al Ghazi is killed. They return home emotionally distraught.
