Matty Demaret (Barry Pepper) is out to prove to his father, Mob boss Benny Demaret (Dennis Hopper), that he has what it takes to be a tough guy. Enlisting the aid of his friends Taylor Reese (Vin Diesel), Johnny Marbles (Seth Green), and cousin Chris Scarpa (Andrew Davoli), Matty puts together a deal that will make his mark on the family business and bail his father out of a sour business deal with another crime family. Things go wrong, however, when Johnny makes a stop in a rural town and attracts the attention of local lawman, Sheriff Stan Decker (Tom Noonan). Will Matty and his associates be able to rescue Johnny? Or is his gamble for respect doomed to fail? John Malkovich also costars.
