“The Longest Yard” is about football hero Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) and his head coach Nate Scarborough (Burt Reynolds). It is a story about a group of inmates who play football against their prison guards. Paul is a former all-star quarterback who ends up in prison after he steals and wrecks his girlfriend’s car. He is persuaded by the prison warden to form a football team to play an exhibition game against the prison guards and recruits the toughest and meanest inmates. After his team becomes very confident and full of self-respect, he is blackmailed by the warden to lose the game in exchange for the prisoners being spared from physical punishment.
