"Kingdom of Heaven" is a wonderfully ironic epic movie about a common man, a blacksmith, that goes to Jerusaleum during the crusades. He pledges his loyalty to the king and falls in love with the king's married sister. When the king dies and the sister's husband comes into power, the Holy Land is thrown into a battle for Jerusaleum. The Islamic forces obliterate the new king's army and then march on the fortress-like city. The blacksmith, Balian of Ibelin, rises to the occasion, taking command of the common man. He uses techniques learned from his father, his friends and his enemies to successfully defend the city during the siege.
