HANGER 3 was officially launched November 14th, 2006, and what a fun trip its been so far. Only a short time after being a live site, traffic quickly started to roll in. I never thought it would draw so much attention so quickly. Within months, HANGER 3 appeared on a few blogs. After each appearance, the site would spread to other blogs. In April 2007 H3 was shown on the front page of a site called Uncrate.com. This shot popularity up very rapidly. So quickly, it crippled the site, and took it off line the day after. But it got the attention it needed. I was contacted by Urban Outfitters, as they wanted to sell a few of my necklaces through their website. And pending popularity, they would place a much larger order to sell the necklaces in their stores. But unfortunately, I couldn't match the quantity and the price they wanted.

Within the same week of being contacted by UO, I was contacted by Real Simple Magazine. They wanted to feature the necklaces in an up-coming gift guide. I was thrilled about the idea of being published in a magazine, but had no idea what Real Simple was. I had never heard of it, but I was quickly convinced by my friends that THIS was the magazine to be in. And it turned out, they were right. A month after the release of the magazine, I was once again contacted by Real Simple asking if it would be alright if they took my necklaces with them to be on the CBS Early Show. I had to pause and think about it for a second, only because I couldn't believe what they were saying. How was it possible to create a product that gets recognized so quickly, and then makes it on TV?

The next publication that HANGER 3 was in, was HOW Design Magazine. This is one of the magazines that graphic designers dream of being published in. Its a great feeling to be able to walk into your local book store, stroll over to the magazine rack, and flip to a page in a magazine that you're printed on. So many times I wanted to say, "Hey, that's me! Look!" But I never felt like I had that chance. Not even when I was in the aisle that Real Simple is displayed in. I thought I'd get some kind of "Aah, why are you looking through that magazine?" look. And I had often thought about leaving Post-It Notes on the pages saying that these necklaces are made right here in this town.

So within a years time, HANGER 3 has appeared in numerous blogs, 2 magazines, and 1 TV show. Coming out sometime in November '09, HANGER 3 will be featured in a book. I'll keep the book title out of this until it actually gets published. I've received an email from the author that it's in the book, but other than that, I have no other proof. Amazon already has the book up for pre-order. So when I get official word from the publisher, I'll post a link to the book.
